Darchives; The Curse of Venus 3

29 Aug

“Listening to  one persons speech can change your life for eternity” . I might have never agreed to this quote, unless for today’s events. Today I went to police station casually with Vilas. Vilas’s uncle is working as Sector Inspector there. The ambiance of station is not at all impressive. Moreover he was green smoking at that time. Even though I know green smoking is hazard free I detest the smell of it. We were served Green Tea and stuffed biscuits. Then something happened, the chit-chat started as usual conversation and continued for an hour or so. By the time I left police station premises I know I am different person from the one who entered into those premises an hour back. “The only way to save resource strained earth is to push its over-populated janta to other planets and moons, that is the only hope for humanities survival”. The essence of his speech is still vibrating in my ears. My umpteen love for earth is keeping me here for all these years. Even though all my friends  were pushed outwards after their training here, I saw it as a betrayal to native planet. Even I moved away from Sanja. Looks like I am wrong. As the Sector Inspector observed correctly, after all human beings are survived only because of migration from pre-civilization days. What now?

Being a Polyglot is necessary condition to read Telugu stories?

24 Apr

Yes, you read it correctly, I am talking about reading Telugu stories, not writing Telugu stories. Our Telugu Writers are writing beautiful stories; they are involved in the story and enjoy the story. But are they taking care of reader? Are they thinking of reader while writing their stories?
I read some time back about responsibility of an author. I do believe that being an author is more responsible, because whatever you write is going to have long term impact, both in terms of literature and in terms of progress of society. Don’t think only the purposeful stories have impact on stories, every story read have some impact on the reader. Every story is an experience. If experiences can make a better man, then each story will have some impact on that betterment.
Our authors, many including the famous ones, write beautiful Telugu stories, but in between the characters start talking in English or Hindi. Or in between the character starts listens to some Hindi song! Here I am not worried about the presence of occational 50% of non-Telugu words in Telugu stories, rather I am worried about presence of non-Telugu paragraphs in the story. Why should a Telugu person be reading a Telugu story with non-Telugu language embedded into it? Does all Telugu know these languages? Imagine somebody from Govt school who is trying to read your story. Do you want to read only partial part of your story? Imagine somebody, say educated long time back but only in Telugu do you want him/her to read only partial part of your story?
As an author you are responsible for future of language of your society. Always remember it and write stories those can be read by all Telugu people.
As a reader my request is try to avoid using non-Telugu paragraphs in Telugu stories, if required keep a translation of those parts somewhere in the story, so that a Only Telugu person can read, enjoy, involve, identify your story.

Amen.

తెలుగు కథలు చదవాలంటే ఎన్ని భాషల్లో ప్రావీణ్యం ఉండాలి? (Read this on my Telugu Blog)
